this article is humbling to begin with, even to a cynic like me, because it puts things in place. especially things which i do not want to put in place. even though i do not believe in the 'lovey-dovey' popularized notion of love our world perpetuates, i still believe in the love which is ultimately self-seeking, self-satisfying. a concept of love that will lead me to destruction.
the concept of love being: Christ's sacrificial love for the Church is so mind-boggling and counter-cultural that it shakes the foundations on which my life is rested upon. love was never meant to satisfy our cravings and desires, but was always meant for us to come to God, to know Him, seek Him in relationship and just to abide with our creator.
1 John 4:17 puts it quite succinctly:
17 By this ais love perfected with us, so that bwe may have confidence for the day of judgment, because cas he is so also are we in this world.
perfection of love, is that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, that we will not face judgment, but be resurrected in the Day of Christ. may God help me.
